The decline in k-12 students coupled with the decline of birth rates in the Unites States, colleges and universities are at an unprecedent crossroad. How do we remain relevant? and how do serve learners who are not 17- to 22-year-old.

One critical population sector is adult learners, many of whom have college credits and no degree but aspire to complete their degree.  While, others many be in search of training, certificates, stackable credentials to advance their career prospects.

Attracting these students requires high ed institutes to change in ways that will be hard and uncomfortable but can be transformational for society and provide a road to stability for many higher ed institutions.  Appealing to non-traditional, adult learners requires a tailored approach that acknowledges their unique needs and circumstances of these potential students.
